Interview with Cheryl
Interview with Cheryl: Q & A for: From Crappy to Happy
How did you come to call the book: From Crappy To Happy?
The name “from crappy to happy” emerged from my frustration at recognizing that most people experience a range of emotions from crappy to happy but do not seem to know how to move from one to the other. During a brainstorming session with both my editor and husband, we laughed at how most people could probably relate to having feelings that range: “from crappy to happy”. When my husband suggested calling the book that, well, the name grew on us and we just couldn’t call it anything else.
What is the book about?
From Crappy to Happy is about personal transformation. It offers a structured step-by-step plan to break free from limiting patterns that sabotage one’s success and simple steps for creating the life they desire. It contains simple techniques that move a person toward greater happiness and well-being.
Why did you decide to write the book?
In my own life, these simple techniques have helped me to minimise anxiety and fear. By releasing these and past, negative conditioning, I was able to enjoy my life more fully. I knew that if these techniques worked so well for me, then it was likely that they would also work well for my clients. Over a twenty year period I developed these techniques into a standard format that anyone could use. I saw how effective these techniques were with my clients and I wanted to be able to offer these same skills to yet more people, hence the book.
What inspired you to write the book?
This is where it gets interesting. Each of us has a “personal coach”, an internal guide that inspires and encourages us to succeed. To me, this coach is the voice of my intuition. Over the past twenty years, I have been blessed with insight and wisdom, through connecting with my own intuitive guidance. This knowledge, in turn, I shared with my clients and friends.
I remember once, during my meditation, of having a vision of standing with my personal coach. My internal coach presented himself as a guide, dressed in white, with a long white beard. During my many meditations, he showed me intuitively how to improve the quality of my life. My guide would dictate pages of insightful information to me on how to increase happiness and well-being in my life. At the end of this period, I had a vision of my guide handing me a very big, red book. When I opened it, it had empty pages. I asked him why it was empty and he said, “It’s your turn to fill the pages in now for others”. After that experience, I felt inspired to write “from crappy to happy” so that this information could be available to lots of people. To me, it was no good having all of this wisdom and knowledge and not sharing it with others. So began my task of writing.
What do you hope your readers will get out of the book?
Personal empowerment; inspiration; motivation, and the know-how to manifest their goals and dreams.
What is the most important lesson to learn from this book?
That each one of us has the power to decide how we want to live our lives. Our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our reality, therefore, it’s important to ensure that they are working for us and not against us.
If there was only one sentence of advice that you could give another person, what would it be?
Thoughts have power; ensure that they are working for you.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt in your life?
The value of spring-cleaning my thoughts, beliefs and attitudes by throwing out the ones that no longer serve me and creating ones that do.
Why did you self-publish the book?
I have a lot of people earnestly awaiting a copy of the book, and I didn’t want it changed in any way. These techniques have served me and my clients well over a twenty year period. I know that these techniques are life-changing and I wanted to offer it to many people, as is.
Why are you interested in helping others?
I struggled in my own life with fears and unresolved issues and valued greatly from the books and mentors that helped me to resolve them. As I developed the techniques now outlined in “From Crappy to Happy”, I wanted to be able to offer them to others to make their journey easier. These techniques were so successful in helping my clients and myself to overcome barriers, that my desire to help yet more people reach their greatest potential, inspired me to write this comprehensive, step-by-step guide to personal transformation.
From Crappy to Happy
is a road map for bringing more happiness and well-being into their lives. “Maps” make the journey easier.
What is online mentoring?
Mentoring is a process which gives people the opportunity to share their professional and personal skills with others to help guide, empower and support them.
